Our Kumon Experience

When I first brought my six-year old son Wico to the Kumon Center in New Manila last July 2010, we had no idea what it could do for him. He hardly cooperated when he was being evaluated. At that time, he was scared of anything or anyone new. So Teacher Joey advised us to talk it over at home and ask him if he still wants to enroll.

During the last holiday season, I am sure most of us have been to the malls more frequently than any other time of the year. And chances are, you have encountered at least one incident of a child throwing tantrums in the mall.

I usually watch the parent’s reactions whenever I see a kid throwing tantrums at the mall, usually demanding some toy or candy.

The Controversial “Bigkis”

When I gave birth to my firstborn, my mother in law had her first major “tampo” when I did not obey her advise to put bigkis (binder) around my newborn son’s waist. She said it’s necessary to “avoid kabag”, “keep tummy flat when he gets older” and so on.
